Lake Norman Community Health Clinic
There are not adequate words to describe how
the staff, Board of Directors and volunteers at Lake Norman
Community Health Clinic, feel for the ongoing support that
we have received from the Lake Norman Rotary.
From serving patients once a week on a shoestring budget of
$5000, to a decade later providing care four days a week on
a budget of $325,000, the Lake Norman Rotary has helped
carry out our mission of providing healthcare to those who
would not otherwise have access to medical care.
Not only has the Lake Norman Rotary supported our clinic
financially; members of the Rotary have served on our board
to help guide and oversee daily operations. The synergistic
relationship that we have developed between the two entities
has enabled us to successfully partner in a way that has
improved the lives of the uninsured in our community.
When our clinic began in 2001, we provided 1680 patient
appointments annually. In 2011, we are projected to provide
over 6000 patient appointments. Our facility provides access
to primary care, women’s, and orthopedic clinics, along with
physical therapy, and diabetic counseling and nutrition
classes. Needless to say, we would not have been able to
obtain or sustain this level of success without the ongoing
support from the Lake Norman Rotary!

Hope House
"Without funding from the Wine Spectaculars
in 2008, 2009 and 2010, Hope House would not have been able
to help 42 individuals (women and children) who have been
residents at Hope House since we were filled to capacity in
January 2010 to date. These women and children and have
transitioned out of our facility to other opportunities to
reach self-sustainability. In addition, we have many success
stories of our residents, two of whom recently have not only
gotten into permanent affordable housing, but have
employment and are giving back to Hope House by becoming
trained resident advisors who help monitor our house 24/7
for insurance purposes. They join this special volunteer
group of 75 other RAYS’ volunteers, women from this
community trained as resident advisors to conduct this
important function, saving us $87,000 a year in salaries and
benefits if we had to fill these slots with paid employees.
Hope House is supported by the Lake Norman community without
support of ongoing government or United Way funding. Two
other important volunteers serving our board of directors
from your Rotary are Kandi Ranson and Ron Gomilla — both who
have served our cause with dedication and professional
assistance.
We are genuinely grateful for the support of your Rotary as
well as other grantors, donors, and volunteers that
contribute daily to the success of our mission.
Many thanks for your contributions to Hope House,
Fran"
